Mentoring Budding Writers

Besides writing value-creating books for children aged 4–10, our founder, Ekta Ohri, is deeply committed to nurturing young storytellers and thinkers (ages 9–14). Through personalized one-on-one mentoring sessions, she guides children to observe keenly, research thoughtfully, read widely, think critically, and write creatively.

Each session is tailored to the child’s age, interests, and pace of learning, ensuring that every young writer feels confident and inspired. Children also learn to apply critical and design thinking to their writing and illustrations, helping them express ideas with clarity and make their stories more meaningful and relevant to their intended audience.

Storytelling becomes a joyful journey of self-expression and discovery, enabling children to better understand their thoughts and emotions. Through this process, Ekta helps them build self-confidence, creative thinking, and strong communication skills—preparing them to express themselves confidently and think independently.

Through their creative stories and illustrations, parents also gain valuable insights into their child’s worldview—what they think, feel, and observe—helping them connect more deeply and understand their children better.

I’m glad we approached Ms Ohri with Utsa’s stories, before deciding to publish them as-is. Ms Ohri chose one of Utsa’s stories and had weekly sessions with her for about 7-8 months. There was a wealth of information Utsa got that helped her look at her own story from a different lens, give life to worthy incidents and craft it better. She also worked on her artistic abilities by illustrating rather complex drawings, for her age with MS. Ohri’s encouragement and direction. That just made the final book much more valuable, meaningful and impactful both in terms of content and the imagery. This in turn meant valuing a readers’ time and money as well. Utsa was involved in every aspect of book-making as well, and was encouraged to participate and provide inputs giving her a sense of ownership and an entrepreneurial taste. These learnings early on in life will certainly help her grow as a writer in the right manner.”
